Thank you for your reply and recommendation to install drivers in compatibility mode. I will try that after I checkout a potential cause of my problem, my usb hub. I discovered that when I unplugged the power cord from my PCthe monitor display still showed power, that is the power indicator light was on.
That seemed odd. When I disconnected my USB hub by un-attaching the usb cablethe power light went off. I left the hub unattached. The next morning my PC woke up from sleep with no problems. I'll see if this continuous for the next several days.
Not sure what it all means, but it appears the usb hub was sending some power to the monitor cperhaps causing the problem. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit. Although the primary screen is black, the system is actually active and wakes up, when fully restored the second monitor lights up and is functional.
Cursor is visible on secondary but not primary and I am able to run applications using the second monitor, I am able to shutdown normally from the secondary monitor.
When I reboot after shutdown, I get the same problem black screen, and am able to follow the previous process with the second monitor. Only way to get out of this situation is to shutdown and remove power form the PC. If I reboot or it sleeps, it will stay off. When I shut down, I have to hear it power down sounds a bit like when you pull the plug, but it isn't necessary. Has been happening for quite a while. I disable sleep and it mostly operates fine. I'll update in a few days. Again, thanks for your help. In reply to Fmaz's post on August 21, I updated drivers as recommended, problem still persists. Additional information I discovered in attempt to diagnose and resolve: I added a second monitor using an USB adapter.
After a normal startup the second monitor is recognized. When the sleep problem occurs I am able to blindly add my password code. Hope this provides additional clues. I keep my computer on all the time and only have my display turn off after 10 minutes. Throughout the day the screen turns on with a simple press of the space bar.
